Editor’s note
You don’t need a list to tell you your dog’s allowed at the pub or the park. London’s full of places you can technically bring your dog, but this is about something else. A special day out. A swim in the ponds before coffee, a quiet gallery visit, an afternoon tea that’s tailored to paws and people. Consider this your companion guide to doing London with your dog - not just where they’re welcome, but where it all feels worth it.

The Egerton House Hotel, Knightsbridge

Serve your pup a dash of chicken and beef meatloaf, followed by homemade biscuits, a carrot cupcake and a ‘dog-tini’ to wash it all down with some canapés. The drawing room feels like a pause in time - with charasmatic townhouse features that take you out of modern day London.

Chelsea

Unapologetically Chelsea. Set across three floors on King’s Road, this is more boutique than café. There’s a grooming parlour downstairs for a pampering spa day, a pup menu upstairs, and an afternoon tea set that includes blueberry scones, for dogs.

Datchet, Windsor

For a day on the outskirts of the city. Kris Cruisers let you hire small self-drive boats (dogs very much allowed) to coast through Windsor and Runnymede. Bring lunch, a leash, and let your dog stretch out on deck while you drift past meadows and weeping willows. A good option for hot days when pavements won’t do.

Notting Hill

Soft pastels, gentle lighting, and a menu that makes this the finest furry friendly cafe. There’s doggie ice cream, canine croissants, and enrichment toys on hand while you decompress with a turmeric latte. Less café, more sanctuary. Best visited mid-morning, before it fills.

Dog-Friendly Movie Screenings

Across various Picturehouse & Curzon cinemas

Some Picturehouse and Curzon cinemas run monthly dog-friendly screenings. There’s usually water bowls at the front and dog biscuits behind the bar. It won’t be the quietest film of your life, but that’s not the point. Ideal for rainy Sundays when the dog still needs company but you need a plot.

Mayfair

Hidden just off Green Park, The Kennel Club houses one of the world’s largest collections of canine art. Portraits, sculpture, rare books. Arrange a visit online, bring your dog, and browse antique depictions of theirs.

Cycle With a Cargo Bike

Across London

Why should Sigrid the cat have all the fun? These electric cargo bikes, available across London via Our Bike, make riverside and park rides with your dog not just possible, but poetic. There’s room for a crate or blanket and just enough breeze for floppy ears to catch. Think Regent’s Canal at 10am, Hampstead lanes before lunch, or Richmond Park in golden hour.
