Oxford Street pedestrianisation plan to go ahead
London Mayor confirms the plans to transform a mile of the shopping street into a car-free zone. The plan is reportedly backed by three quarters of Londoners. Expect more al-fresco cafés.

And it’s not just Oxford Street that’s getting summer streets
Shoreditch, Brixton, Leyton and St Martin’s Lane are going car-free this summer for alfresco dining and late-night energy. Soho’s out—Westminster council didn’t apply.

London’s department stores are due for a renaissance
London’s grand old department stores are glowing again, this time as mixed-use spaces mixing. Whiteleys and Clapham Junction are leading the trend.

Surrenne, Belgravia
London has never seen wellness like this. A four-storey sensory escape beneath The Emory with membership starting at £10K. But this isn’t flash, it’s health at ultimate precision with every detail meticulously considered.

The offering is serious. A private doctor who completes a full-body diagnostic, from hormones to microbiomes to blood work. You get a full Alo kit and Alice Temperley robes laundered for each visit. FaceGym handles the facials. Tracy Anderson runs the studio. There’s a shiatsu room for walk-on-back massage, a snow machine and a pool that plays neuroscientist-curated frequencies through the water.

Even the café is intentional with menus by Rosemary Ferguson, designed for recovery. Outside, think Hyde Park run clubs and wild swimming in the Serpentine. Inside, a book club, live orchestral sound therapy and a sauna the size of some flats.

The ultimate, feel-good luxury.

There’s something about experiencing London on water. When you’re constantly rushing and zig-zagging through busy streets and traffic, drifting offers a different kind of luxury. One that is slower, softer and more discrete. In my opinion, it’s the best way to experience London, transport wise. But as always with London, it’s got to be done right.

A seafood-centric restaurant that pairs sustainability sourced dishes with mini martinis. It’s a collaboration from the team behind Firebird in Soho and it features a minimalist, past-meets-future interior designed by Crosby Studios. Opens June 25.

Canal, Westbourne Park
New from the team behind Bistro Freddie, Canal offers bistro classics like ricotta agnolotti and Cornish John Dory. Cocktails on a waterside terrace come courtesy of East London’s A Bar with Shapes for a Name, who recently secured a spot on the World’s 50 Best Bars list. Opens June 30.

Roman comfort food brought to you by Highbury locals Ed Templeton and White Lotus actor, Theo James. Look out for servings of porchetta sandwiches on Arsenal match days. Open now.

A Burrata Bar?
A Five‑course burrata tasting for just £5 is coming to Shoreditch on July 4-5. Guests start with a welcome drink, then dive into five burrata-led courses. Highlights include baked nduja burrata, a tricolore sandwich, deep-fried burrata with hot honey and a Pimm’s-dressed strawberry salad. Dessert? A burrata s’mores blondie topped with marshmallow, pistachio, and whipped cheese.

Wimbledon’s back!
